Professor Sun Jiahong Attends Annual Conference of Association for Asian Studies

Professor Jiahong, an associate research fellow at CASS Law Institute, attended the Annual Conference of Association for Asian Studies at the invitation of the Association in Denver Colorado on March 20-25, 2019.

The Association for Asian Studies (AAS) is a scholarly, non-political, non-profit professional association open to all persons interested in Asia and the study of Asia. With approximately 8,000 members worldwide, representing all the regions and countries of Asia and all academic disciplines, the AAS is the largest organization of its kind.

At the conference, which consisted of 392 group meetings and was attended by over 3,300 representatives, scholars of Asian studies, business partners, librarians and other people interested in Asian issues with different cultural, religious, historical and linguistic backgrounds carried out dialogues in many different forms. At the 26th group meeting held in the evening of March 21, Professor Sun Jiahong gave a keynote speech entitled “Inheritance and Changes of the Provisions in Qing Codes”, in which he used a large number of statistical data, pictures, and tables to demonstrate the evolution of the core statutory laws of Qing Dynasty in more than 200 years. In the days that followed, Professor Sun attended many academic activities relating to legal history in which carried out active exchanges with scholars from other countries.
