The Academic Lecture “Multilateral Diplomacy of Our Time: Weaker or Stronger Than Ever… or Both at the Same Time?” Held at CASS Institute of International Law

The Academic Lecture “Multilateral Diplomacy of Our Time: Weaker or Stronger Than Ever… or Both at the Same Time?” was held at CASS Institute of Law on October 30, 2018. The lecture was given by KameliaKemileva, aspecial projects manager and co-coordinator of the Geneva Academy Human Rights Platform, and presided over by Professor Sun Shiyan, a research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law. Professor Dai Ruijun, an associate research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law,and Dr. Zhang Weihua, an assistant research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law, served as the two commentators at the lecture.

In the lecture, Ms. Kemileva mainly discussed the following issues: the meaning of multilateral diplomacy and the role played by the UN in multilateral diplomacy; the reasons why would states engage in multilateral diplomacy; exchange and cooperation between states and non-state entities;exchange and cooperation between states; the UN as a place of making laws, rather than making wars; and multilateral diplomacy and the sustainable development. After the lecture, Professor Dai Ruijun and Dr. Zhang Weihua summarized and made comments on the lecture and Ms. Kemileva answered questions raised by the audience.
