The First Roundtable of CASS Institute of International Law on Arbitration Law: Bringing Chinese Arbitration Law in Line with International Standard Successfully Held in Beijing

On December 5, 2017, the First Roundtable of CASS Institute of International Law on Arbitration Law: “Bringing Chinese Arbitration Law in Line with International Standard” was held in Beijing. The event was jointly organized by the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law and “Belt and Road” Judicial Research Base of the Supreme People’s Court and attended by about twenty scholars and experts from CASS, China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Beijing Arbitration Commission, and China Foreign Affairs University. The Roundtable was divided into two units in which the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on the following topics: “reflections on bringing Chinese arbitration in line with international standards”; “differences between Chinese and international arbitrations”; “disclosure of documents and cross-examination of witnesses in international arbitration”; “internationalization of arbitrators”; “accelerating the construction of China International Arbitration Center to provide forceful service and safeguard for creating a new situation of all-round opening up”; “reflections on the system of rejection of application for arbitration at early stage”; “bringing Chinese third-party financial aid system in line with international standard”; and “the arbitrability of PPP disputes”.
