《环球法律评论》是国家新闻出版署批准的国家级政治法律刊物，是中国人文社会科学核心期刊，前身为《法学译丛》（1979年创刊），由中国社会科学院法学研究所主办，现任主编徐炳教授。本刊的宗旨是：比较研究中国法与外国法以及各国法之间的利弊得失，优劣高下，以便同仁悟取舍之正道，得法意之精髓。本刊既倡导宏观的、体系的、基础理论的比较研究，也注重微观的、个别的、具体的法律制度，法律技巧，法律设计诸方面的比较研究；既提倡用中国法的眼光透视外国法，也欢迎用外国法的眼光来透视中国法，或用某一外国法的眼光透视另一外国法。本刊立足中国，放眼全球，贴近前沿，关注热点，坚守学术品位，力求曲高和众，尽量满足法律理论界、实务界、教育界对法律学识的需求。
Global Law Review, a national-level law journal published with the approval of State Press and Publication Administration, is a core Chinese journal in the field of humanity and social sciences. Its predecessor was Translations in Law Sciences, which started publication in 1979. The journal is sponsored by the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and its current editor-in-chief is Professor Xu Bing. The purpose of the journal is to promote comparative study between Chinese and foreign laws and between laws of different foreign countries so as to learn their advantages and disadvantages and help legal scholars and practitioners in their choice between different options and understanding of the spirit of law. The journal attaches equal importance to both comparative studies from the perspective of macroscopic, systematic and basic theory and those from the perspective of microscopic, specific and concrete legal systems, legal skills and legal designs, and to both the analysis of foreign laws from the Chinese perspective and the analysis of Chinese law from the perspective of foreign laws, or the analysis of the law of one foreign country from the perspective of another foreign country. The journal strives to base itself on China while having the whole world in view, and pay close attention to frontline issues and issues of general interests while ensuring the academic quality of its content so as to meet the needs of theoretical, practical and educational circles of law.
为了在全球化背景下进一步提升中国法律学识的品位，本刊特设以下栏目：
主题研讨--集中研究焦点、热点问题。将分别开设"网络时代的法律问题"，"WTO中的法律问题"，"日本民法百年"、"国际裁军与人道主义法"等专题。
理论前沿--评介当代法学理论（包括法理学、比较法、法史学和部门法学在内）的热点或者基本问题。 比较研究--古今中外及不同国家和文明之间的法律思想与制度研究。
图书评论--评论国外法学著作和有影响的论文。
案例分析--分析国际法院、外国法院有重大影响的案例。
游学有感--学者在国外研究期间，经常会由于域外文化的冲击而感触多多，本刊特为抒发游学观感辟一方静地。
项目介绍--介绍一些国际合作研究项目的内容和进展情况、法律文件等。
