The Thirteenth Roundtable on Cyber and Information Law and the Seminar on the Regulation of Cyber Advertisement in a New Era Held in Beijing

The Thirteenth Roundtable on Cyberspace and Information Law and the Seminar on the Regulation of Cyber Advertisement in a New Era were held at CASS Law Institute in Beijing on December 2, 2018. The roundtable was jointly sponsored by CASS Law Institute and Cyberspace and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and jointly organized by the Department of Cyber and Information Law of CASS Law Institute, the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cyber and Information Law, the Innovation Project Team on “Construction of Big Cyber Power and Legal Innovation” and CASS Center for Cultural Law Studies.

The roundtable was presided over by Professor Li Xia, Secretary-general of CASS Center for Cultural Law Studies and an associate research fellow at CASS Law Institute. Professor Zhou Hanhua, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute and Executive Vice Chairman of Cyberspace and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society, first gave an opening speech at the roundtable. Then Professor Zhou Hui, Vice Secretary-general of Cyberspace and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and Executive Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cyber and Information Law, Professor Yan Jingjing, a research fellow at the China-EU Legal Research Center of China, Mr. Shui Zhidong, a former inspector of the Advertisement Department of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, and Mr. Zhao Jian, a research fellow at Capital Media Economy Research Base, each gave a keynote speech on the regulation of Internet advertisement in the US, regulation of Internet advertisement in EU, regulation of Internet advertisement in China, and reflections on the experiences of regulation of Internet advertisement in different countries, respectively.

In the discussion unit that followed, Mr. He Po, a research fellow at China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, Ms. Huang Linli, a council member of the Cyberspace and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society, Mr. Liu Canhua, an associate research fellow at Rule of Law Research Committee of China Law Society, and Dr. Xubin, an assistant research fellow at CASS Law Institute, each expressed their own opinions and reflections on the issues discussed in the keynote speeches.

At the end of the roundtable, a ceremony was held for the launching of the book A Comparative Study of the Regulation of Internet Advertisement, which is the first book in the book series Studies on Cyber and Information Law.
