Professor Mo Jihong Attends a Roundtable of the International Association of Constitutional Law on “Judicial Appointment and Independence: the India Experience from the Perspective of Comparative Law” in New Delhi, India

The Roundtable “Judicial Appointment and Independence: the India Experience from the Perspective of Comparative Law”, organized by the International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) was held at the Law School of O.P. Jindal Global University in New Delhi, India on November 2-3, 2018. The roundtable was attended by over 50 constitutional law scholars from IACL, the Law School of National Law University, the Law School of Delhi, O.P. Jindal Global University and other universities and research institutions. Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute and Honorary President of IAC, and Professor Han Dayuan, President of the Constitutional Law Research Committee of China Law Society, attended the roundtable as representatives of Chinese constitutional law circle.

 

At the roundtable, which was divided into six sessions, the participants carried out heated discussions and reached many consensuses on such topics as understanding and gasping judicial independence, modes and theories of judicial appointment, a review of the procedure and practice of judicial appointment in India, comparative perspectives from Asia and Africa, and comparative perspectives from Latin America and Europe.
