The Eighth Lecture of Legal Innovation Forum of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International in 2018 was successfully held in the conference room of CASS Law Institute on the morning of October 23, 2018. The lecture, entitled “The Incorporation of the Development of Ecological Civilization into the Chinese Constitution and the Development of Ecological Law in China”, was given by Professor Liu Hongyan, Head of the Ecological Law Department of CASS Law Institute, and presided over by Professor Li Zhong, Head of the Department of Rule of Law Strategy of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law. Dr. Yue Xiaohua, an assistant research fellow at the Ecological Law Department of CASS Law Institute, served as the commentator at the lecture.

  

Before the lecture, Professor Li Zhong gave the audience a brief introduction to the provisions on environmental protection in the Fifth Amendment to the Chinese Constitution and pointed out the importance of the incorporation of the construction of ecological civilization into the Constitution. In the lecture, Professor Liu Hongyan pointed out that the year 2018 is an important historical junction in the development of environmental law in China as indicated by the incorporation of the construction of ecological civilization into the Constitution. He gave an overview of the process of incorporation of ecological civilization into the Constitution and analyzed its possible impact on the construction of environmental and ecological rule of law in China.
