The Annual Conference of the Environmental Law Research Committee of China Law Society and the National Seminar on Environmental Resource Law were held in Changsha City, Hunan Province on October 19-21, 2018. The conference and seminar, which took “new development of environmental law in the new era: theory and practice of regional environmental law” as the theme, were sponsored by Environmental Resource Law Research Committee of China Law Society and Hunan Normal University and organized by the Law School of Hunan Normal University and attended by over 350 environmental resource law experts, scholars and practical workers from universities, research institutions, judicial organs and environmental protection organizations. The seminar was divided into five panels at which the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions around the basic theories of environmental law, basic systems of regional environmental law, regional environmental issues in international law and comparative law, resolution of regional environmental disputes and other environmental law theories and practice.

Dr. Yue Xiaohua, an assistant research fellow of CASS Law Institute, attended the conference and gave a keynote speech entitled “the environmental code and the environmental legislative system in the Philippines” at the third panel of the seminar. In the speech, she introduced the background and tradition of environmental legislation in the Philippines, carried out comprehensive analysis of the content and characteristics of the Philippine environmental code and environmental legislative system, and put forward suggestions on the codification of environmental law in light of the Philippine experience.
