The Sixth Legal Innovation Forum of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law was successfully held at the conference room of CASS Law Institute on October 9, 2018. At the forum, Professor Wang Tianyu, an associate research fellow at the Social Law Department of CASS Law Institute, gave a lecture entitled “Identification of Internet Platform-based Payment Labor Relationship”. The lecture was presided over by Professor Xue Ninglan, Head of the Social Law Department of CASS Law Institute. Professor Xie Zengyi, Head of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation of CASS Law Institute, served as the commentator of the lecture. The lecture was attended by about 40 researchers from the two institutes and graduate from the Law Faculty of CASS Graduate School.

Before the lecture, Professor Xue Ninglan gave a brief introduction to the concept and current research situation of social law, and explained the significance of the topic of the lecture. In the lecture, Professor Wang Tianyu discussed the issue from the following five aspects: the main problems resulting from the new employment mode of Internet platform-based employment; namely the difficulties in determining the legal relationship between an Internet platform and a service provider; the four modes of employment by Internet platforms; the theory of the “subordinate nature of labor relationship”; and some of his own conclusions on this issue.
