The Twelfth Roundtable on Cyberspace and Information Law was held at CASS Law Institute in Beijing on September 17, 2018. The event was jointly sponsored by CASS Law Institute and Cyberspace and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and jointly organized by CASS Center for the Study of Cultural Law, the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cyber and Information Law, and the Innovation Project Team on the “Construction of Big Cyber Power and Legal Innovation”. It was attended by sixteen experts and scholars in the fields of law science and new media as well as representative from the Internet industry.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Peng Ling, Deputy Director of the Research Department of China Law Society, discussed the source of the theme of the roundtable and her own reflections on the construction of big cyber power; and Professor Zhou Hanhua, executive vice chairman of Cyberspace and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and a research fellow at CASS Law Institute, introduced the background and the theme of the roundtable. At the seminar, representatives from China Law Society, the People’s Courts New and Communication Agency, Southern Metropolis Daily, www.toutiao.com, MicroBlog, and Tencent Co. each gave a keynote speech around the theme of the roundtable. Professor Liu Ming, Professor Wu Jun and Dr. Xu Bing from CASS Law Institute and Professor Tu Kai from the Law School of Tsinghua University each made a comment on the keynote speeches and expressed their own opinions on relevant issues.
