A Delegation of CASS Law Institute Attends Sino-Japanese Seminar on Comparative Law at Waseda University in Japan

On July 20-23, 2018, a delegation of CASS Law Institute, headed by Professor Chen Su, Director of CASS Law Institute,visited Japan and attended the “Sino-Japanese Seminar on Comparative Law:a Review of the Changes and Characteristics of Chinese and Japanese Laws in the Past 25 Years” at Waseda University in Tokyo.The seminar was held in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the academic exchange between China and Japan in the field of law: Other members of the delegation included: Professor Liu Renwen, Head of the Criminal Law Department, Professor XueNinglan, Head of the Social Law Department, Professor XieZengyi, Head of Research Administration and Foreign Cooperation Department, Professor ZhaiGuoqiang, Deputy Head of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Department, and Professor Zhu Guangxin, Deputy Head of the Civil Law Department.

The seminar was divided into three units, in which the Chinese and Japanese participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on the changes and characteristics of Chinese and Japanese laws in the fields of public law, criminal law and civil law in the past 25 years, and on such topics as the system of state supervisory committee in China, the academic exchange between Japan and China in the field of criminal law, the codification of the civil law in China, the development of corporate legal system in Japan, the development of the marriage law, family law and labor laws in China.

On the morning of July 22, 2018, members of the delegation held negotiation and reached an agreement with their Japanese colleagues on the theme, time and concrete issues of the exchange and cooperation between CASS Law Institute and Waseda University in the next three years and attended a ceremony for the signing of the agreement.
