Codification, as the ideal mode of ecological legislation in a country with the statutory law system, indicates the level of development of ecological legislation in the country. The movement of codification of ecological law in Russia that began in the 1980s has laid a solid theoretical and practical foundation for the compilation of a contemporary ecological code in the country. However, the unique legal culture and numerous social factors in Russia have determined that Russia will adopt a progressive approach to and pragmatic attitude towards the codification of the ecological legislation. As a participant of globalization of ecological legislation, Russia has provided the world with a legal remedy paradigm for the resolution of the domestic conflict between economic development and ecological protection.
