The Second Sino-Canadian Seminar on Comparative Law: “The Internet, Artificial Intelligence and Legal Reform in China and Canada” Held in Beijing

On May 30, 2018, the Second Sino-Canadian Seminar on Comparative Law, which took “The Internet, Artificial Intelligence and Legal Reformin China and Canada” as its theme, was held at CASS Law Institute in Beijing. The seminar, jointly sponsored by CASS Law Institute and the Law Faculty of the University of Montreal, was attended by over 20 experts and scholars from China and Canada.

At the opening ceremony of the seminar, presided over by Professor XieZengyi, Head of the Research Coordination and Foreign Cooperation Department of CASS Law Institute, Professor Chen Su, Director of CASS Law Institute, and Professor Guy Lefebvre, Vice Rector of University of Montreal, each gave a speech, in which they introduced the important role played by their respective institutions in the promotion the legal reform with respect to the Internet and AI and the main content and the significance of the seminar.The seminar was divided into three units in which the participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on various issues around the following three topics: “AI and legal reform”, “Internet finance and legal reform” and “pluralistic dispute resolution mechanism and legal reform”.
