The Seminar on Issues relating to International Protection of Intellectual Property Held in Beijing

The Seminar on Issues relating to International Protection of Intellectual Property, organized by CASS Center for Intellectual Property Law Studies, was recently held in Beijing. The seminar was attended by about 50 experts, scholars and practical workers in the field of intellectual property law from various judicial and administrative organs, universities, and research institutions in China, including the Supreme People’s Court, the State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce, Beijing IP Court, Tsinghua University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, University of International Business and Economics, Heibei University, and Beijing International Studies University.

Professor Guan Yuying, Director of CASS Center for Intellectual Property Law Studies, presided over the opening ceremony and keynote speeches. In an opening speech, she explained the theme of the seminar, thanked the experts and scholars for their participation in the seminar, and wished the seminar great success. The seminar was divided into four units in which the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on various issues around the following topics: “the formulation of basic laws on intellectual property”; “intellectual property issues in Sino-US trade disputes”; “development of international protection of intellectual property”; and “the new technological revolution and the development of intellectual property system”. The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Li Mingde, a research fellow of CASS Center for Intellectual Property Law Studies. In a closing speech, he gave a summarization of the seminar and expressed his own views on each of the above four topics of the seminar.
