The Seminar on “the Return of the State and Reconstruction of International Legal Order” Held in Xiamen

On April 28-29, 2018, the Seminar on “the Return of the State and Reconstruction of International Legal Order”, jointly sponsored by the Editorial Board of Chinese Review of International Law and the Law School of Xiamen University, was held in Xiamen City, Fujian Province.The seminar was attended by scholars and experts from the Editorial Board of Chinese Review of International Law, Law School of Xiamen University, Huadong University of Political Science and Law, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Southeast University, Fuzhou University, and Hebei University of Economics and Business.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Chen Zexian, the editor-in-chief of Chinese Review of International Law,gave a speech in which he expressed the wish that the seminar would promote the liaison between the Editorial Board of Chinese Review of International Law and prominent international law scholars in China, cultivate young and middle-age scholars with potentials, and provide support to the publication paper series in the journal.Professor Cai Congyan from the Law School of Xiamen University introduced the international law background of the theme of the seminar and the related researches carried out by his team. Professor Liu Huawen, assistant director of CASS Institute of International Law, gave a speech entitled “China and International Human Rights Law”.

At the seminar, the participants gave presentations and carried out debates around such topics as “the future of international law”, “economic globalization”, “the evolution of international law order”, “mechanisms for the resolution of disputes between investors and the state”, “the sovereignty of cyberspace”, and “international economic order and China”.
