The Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law Successfully Organizes the First Seminar on Competition Law in 2018

On April 1, 2018, the Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law successfully organized the first seminar on competition law in 2018. The seminar was attended by over 30 scholars, experts, lawyers and graduate students from CASS Institute of International Law, CASS Law Institute, CASS Graduate School, and Royal Oriental Law Firm. At the seminar, Professor Deborah Healey from University of New South Wales, Australia, gave a keynote speech on Anti-trust Regulation of Resale Price Maintenance (RPM).

In the speech, Professor Healey explained the concept RPM and analyzed it from the following three perspectives: its importance in terms of pricing, the consequence of RPM damages, and the degree of awareness of its legitimacy among market participants. In light of articles 14 and 15 of the Chinese Anti-Monopoly Law and related cases, Professor Healey gave her opinions on the regulation of RPM in China.

The speech was presided over by Professor Wang Xiaoye, Director of the Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law. After the speech, Professor Wang made a commentary on the speech. Professor Wang Jin, Deputy Director of the Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law, Professor Jin Shanming, an associate research fellow of the Economic Law Department of CASS Law Institute, and Mr. Xue Yin, a lawyer from Royal Oriental Law Firm exchanged opinions with Professor Healey on some issues of common interest.
