Professor Mo Jihong Gives Lecture on “Studying and Understanding the Essentials of New Amendments to the Constitution in Light of the Spirit of the Nineteenth Party Congress” in Kunming City

On March 23, the political training course for leading cadres of judicial and public security organs of Yunnan Province was held in Kunming City. At the training course, Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute and Executive Vice President of the Constitutional Law Research Committee of China Law Society, gave a lecture entitled “Studying and Understanding the Essentials of New Amendments to the Constitution in Light of the Spirit of the Nineteenth Party Congress”. In the lecture, Professor gave a comprehensive and systematic explanation of the form, the content, the characteristics, and the significance of the latest amendments to the Chinese Constitution in light of the spirit of the Nineteenth Party Congress. He pointed out that the new amendments to the Constitution represent the general trend of development of the times, the requirements of the development of the socialist cause, and the common aspiration of the people. They are important measures for advancing the rule of law in an all-round way, and provide powerful constitutional safeguard for the realization of the Two Centenary Goals and the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. China should take the opportunity of the revision of the Constitution to put the implementation of the Constitution on a prominent position in the process of advancing the rule of law in a new era, adopt effective measures to strengthen the work of constitutional implementation and supervision, provide effective political and institutional safeguards for the implementation of the Constitution, and take the practice of ruling the country by law and ruling the country by Constitution to a new level.

The lecture was presided over by Mr. Ren Junhao, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, Secretary of the Political and Judicial Commission of the Provincial Party Committee and Chief of Provincial Public Security Bureau. In a speech given after the lecture, Mr. Ren demanded the participants of the training course to transform the knowledge they acquired in the training course into concrete action of studying, publicizing and implementing the constitutional amendments, be the pioneers in upholding the authority and ensuring the implementation of the Constitution, and apply the spirit of the Constitution to guide the high-quality development of various undertakings.
