Professor Wang Xiaoye Attends the Academic Seminar “Competition and the Market: Chinese and European Approaches in Comparison” in Nanjing

The Academic Seminar “Competition and the Market: Chinese and European Approaches in Comparison”, jointly sponsored by the Law School of Nanjing University, Nanjing University-University of Göttingen Sino-German Law Institute, and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Shanghai Office, was held in Nanjing City on March 22 and 23, 2018. The seminar was attended by prominent scholars and experts from various universities and research institutions in China, Germany and Austria, including Free University of Berlin, University of Osnabrück, University of graz, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Peking University, CASS, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Central University of Finance and Economics, University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Zhejiang University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Zhongshan University, Sichuan University, Zhengzhou University, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Guangzhou University, and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, as well as officials from relevant government agencies, such as the Bureau of Price Supervision and Anti-Monopoly of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Anti-Price Monopoly Division of Price Bureau of Jiangsu Province, and the Division of Economic Inspection of the Bureau of Industry and Commerce of Jiangsu Province.

The one-and-a-half day seminar was divided into five sections: “competition and regulations; market economy and competition law; social regulation; regulation of risks; and the regulation of the Internet”. In each of these sections, the participants gave presentations, made comments on presentations, and carried out discussion on various topics relating to the topic of the section. Professor Wang Xiaoye, Director of the Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Law Institute, attended the seminar and gave a speech at the second section of the seminar. In the speech, she discussed issues relating to the regulation of multinational holding companies, shared the experiences of US, EU and Australia in this area, and put forward suggestions on the handling of the relevant cases in China. She also chaired the fifth session of the seminar “the regulation of the Internet”.
