A Scholar of CASS Law Institute Attends the Expert Consultation Meeting on the (Draft) Law on Basic Health Care, Medicine and Health Promotion

On the afternoon of January 10, 2018, the Third Legal Expert Consultation Meeting of China Law Society in 2018: Expert Panel on the (Draft) Law on Basic Health Care, Medicine and Health Promotion, was held in Beijing. The Panel was presided over by Mr. Zhang Wenxian, Vice Chairman of China Law Society, and attended by 17 prominent experts and scholars from various research institutions, universities, as well as medical institutions and law firms in China, including Dr. Dong Wenyong, an associate research fellow at CASS Law Institute.

The meeting was jointly organized by the Research Deparment, the Criminal Law Research Committee, and the Criminal Procedure Law Research Committee of China Law Society and had been attached high importance to and given energetic support by the relevant departments of the Central Government. At the meeting, Ms. Chen Ningna, Deputy Director of the Legislative Affairs Department of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, gave an introduction to the legislative background of and main considerations in the draft law. The experts and scholars had carefully read the draft law before attending the meeting. Each of them put forward his or her opinions on further improving the draft law. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Qi Bing, Deputy of the Administrative Law Office of the Legislative Affairs Comission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, gave a brief response to the proposals put forward by the experts and scholars.
