Professor Li Shunde Attends the Ceremeony for the Launching of a Major Project of National Social Sciences Fund on Intellectual Property Law

On December 24, 2017, the ceremony for the launching of the Major Project of National Social Sciences Fund “Issues of Public Domain of Intellectual Property under the Strategy Innovation-driven Development” (project code: 17ZDA139) was held at China University of Political Science and Law. The cereomony was attended by 80 experts and scholars from various universities, research institutions, and state legislative and judicial organs, including Professor Li Mingde from CASS Law Institute.

At the ceremony, Professor Shi Jianzhong, Vice President of China University of Political Science and Law, stressed the importance of the project, pointing out that scientific resarch plays a cricial role in discipline-building in universities and projects are a key link in this process. He hoped that, through this project, the University will be able to produce more academic results and provide more proposals to state organs in the formulation of major strategies in the field of intellectual property law. After the ceremony, a seminar was held in which the participating experts and scholars gave keynote speeches and carried out discussions on various issues around the theme of “the Public Domain of Intellectual Property under the Strategy Innovation-driven Development” from the legislative, judicial and policy perspectives.

In his speech, Professor Li Shunde put forward a series of proposals to the project team by proceeding from the overall situation of international protection of intellectual property and taking the revision of TRIPS as the entry point and public health as the starting point, suggesting that the project team should have an internation perspective in its research and pay special attention to intellectual property-related international trade and market competition.

During the ceremony and the seminar, members of the project team carefully listened to the opinions and suggestions of participating experts and scholars with respect to the research content, method and strategy of the project, thereby laying a sound foundation for the smooth implementation of the project.
