Professor Sun Xianzhong Attends the Seminar on “Deepening Rural Land Reform and Implementing the Strategy of Rural revitalization”

On December 16-17, 2017, the Seminar on “Deepening Rural Land Reform and Implementing the Strategy of Rural revitalization”, jointly organzied by the School of Economic Law of Renmin University of China and the Government of Luzhou County, Siuchuan Province, was held in Luzhou County. The seminar was attended by experts and scholars from the National People’s Congress, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, CASS, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, and Scihuan University, as well as officials in charge of rural land reform in local governments. On the morning of December 16, the participants of the seminar carried out on-site investigations at the various locations of pilot land reform in Luzhou County. Luzhou was designated by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and the State Council in 2015 as one of the 33 counties in the whole country for carrying out pilot reforms on the rural land system. The seminar was held on the afternoon of December 16 and the morning of December 17. At the seminar, presided over by Professor Guan Xueling, Party Secretary of the School of Economic Law of Renmin University, Mr. Du Zuowen, Deputy Chief of Louzhou County, and Professor Liu Shouying of Renmin University of China, gave detailed introductions to and sumarization of the background, concrete measures and basic theories of the rural land reform in the county. After the introduction, the participants carried out discussion on various issues relating to the rural land reform. They fully confirmed the Luzhou experience of rural land reform and put forward suggestions on the further deepening of the reform. Professor Sun Xianzhong, a research fellow at the Civil Law Department of CASS Law Institute, attended the seminar. In his speech, he spoke highly of the Luzhou experience of implementing the concrete land rights of members of rural collectives and praised the Government of Luzhou County for not benefiting itself in the process of land reform.
