The Second “Social Sciences Cup” Forum of Graduate Students in Law of CASS Graduate School Held at CASS Law Institute

On the morning of December 23, 2017, the Second “Social Sciences Cup” Forum of Graduate Students in Law of CASS Graduate School, jointly organized by the Law Faculty of CASS Graduate School and Beijing Mugong Law Firm, was successfully held in the conference room of CASS Law Institute. The forum, which took “Scientific and Technological Advancement and the Development of the Rule of Law” as its theme, was attended by over 50 graduate students of the Law Faculty of CASS Graduate School, some research fellows of the CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, as well as some lawyers from Beijing Mugong Law Firm.

A total of 32 papers had been submitted to the forum by students of the Law Faculty of CASS Graduate School. After careful evaluation by a review board, three of these papers were awarded the first prize; seven awarded the second prize and ten awarded the third prize.

  

The forum was divided into two parts in which a total of eight graduate students presented their papers. These papers discussed a variety of issues, including: the constitutionality of the “General Rules on the Censorship of Online Audio-Visual Programs, the construction of Belt and Road and “Information Corridor” in the age of big data, the constitutionality of the prohibition of non-Beijing drivers from working for the online taxi-hailing service in Beijing, the reasonableness and necessity of the provisions on the protection of right of honor of heroes and martyrs in the General Provisions of the Civil Law, legal regulation of surrogacy, legal regulation of automatic driving technology, constitutional protection of privacy in cyberspace, and legal regulation of public opinions on cyberspace. After each presentation, comments were given by the professors of the Law Faculty or the lawyers from the Law Firm, pointing out the strengths and the weaknesses in the presentation.
