A Delegation of Friedrich Ebert Foundation Visits CASS Law Institute

On December 14, 2017, a delegation of Friedrich Ebert Foundation, led by Mr.Christoph Pohlmann, Resident Representative for China, visited CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law and held a meeting with some researchers of the two CASS institutes. Other members of the delegation included Dr. Ulrike Spangenberg, a Professor at the Institute of Gender Equality Procedure and Strategy of Berlin School of Economics and Law, Dr. Albert Scherr, Director of the Institute of Sociology of Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg, and Dr. Felix Welti, a Professor at Institute of Sociology of University of Kassel. The meeting was presided over by Professor Chen Su, Director of CASS Law Institute. Other Chinese participants of the meeting included Professor Xue Ninglan, Head of Social Law Department of CASS Law Institute, Professor Xie Zengyi, Head of Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Law Institute, Professor Wang Xuemei, an editor of the journal Global Law Review, Professor Qu Xiangfei and Professor Dai Ruijun, a two research fellows at the Human Rights Department of CASS Institute of International Law, and Dr. Ren Hongda, an assistant research fellow at the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law. At the meeting, Professor Chen Su extended warm welcome to members of the delegation and gave them a brief introduction to the two CASS institutes and their unique role in and contributions to the construction of the rule of law in China. At the request of members of the delegation, the scholars of the two CASS institutes gave them systematic introductions to the development of systems of the protection of the rights and interests of women, children and persons with disability in China. Members of the delegation gave their Chinese colleagues introductions to achievements made by Germany in the protection of the equal right and carried out discussions with them on such issues as public interest litigation involving persons with disability, the right to education of children of migrant workers, and the system of assessment of the effect of legislation.
