On December 14, 2017, Professor Hanne Petersen of the Law School of Copenhagen University in Denmark visited CASS Law Institute, and held a meeting with some scholars of the Institute, including Professor Li Zhong, Head of the Department of Strategic Research on the Rule of Law, Professor Xie Zengyi, Head of the Department of Research Coordination and International Cooperation, and Professor Jin Shanming and Professor Wang Xiaomei, two associate research fellows of the Institute.
At the meeting, Professor Xie first extended warm welcome to Professor Petersen and thanked her for her warm reception of a delegation of CASS Law Institute Law during its visit to the Law School of Copenhagen University in August this year. Then, he gave Professor Petersen a brief introduction to the historical development and the institutional structure of CASS Law Institute as well as its role in the construction of the rule of law in China. Next, Professor Li Zhong introduced the brightspots in and explained some important content of Xi Jinping’s Report to the Nineteenth National Congress of the CPC, especially those relating to the implementation of the Constitution, constitutional supervision, constitutional review, and upholding of the authority of the Constitution; Professor Wang Xiaomei introduced the progresses made by China in recent years in the field of judicial reform, especially in court informatization and in overcoming difficulties in the enforcement of court judgments; and Professor Jin Shanming gave an introduction to the basic situation of the development of the market economic legal system in China, especially the latest development in the field anti-monopoly law. Professor Petersen thanked the Chinese shcolars for their excellent introductions to the latest developments in the construction of the rule of law in China and pointed out that the advancement of science and technology, especially information technology, has posed many challenges to the rule of law in China. She hoped that the CASS Law Institute and the Law School of Copenhagen University would continue their exhange and cooperation in the field of the rule of law.
