Annual Conference of China Institute of Legal History in 2017 Successfully Held in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province

On September 8-10, 2017, the Annual Conference of China Institute of Legal History in 2017, jointly organized by China Institute of Legal History, Law School of Renmin University of China, and Law School Shanxi University, was successfully held in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. The conference took “the wisdom of Chinese judicial tradition” as it theme and was attended by over 200 scholars and experts throughout the country. Professor Wu Yuzhang, Chairman of China Institute of Legal History and a research fellow of CASS Law Institute, gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference, which presided over by Professor Zhou Ziliang, Vice Dean of the Law School of Shanxi University. In his speech, Professor Wu extended warm welcome to the participants of the conference. He pointed out that the CPC would adopt a new plan for the construction of the rule of law in China at the upcoming Nineteenth Party Congress and he encouraged the participants to carry out in-depth study of the essence of the traditional Chinese legal culture, so as to provide better suggestions and advices for the further construction of the rule of law in China. Finally he thanked the Law School of Shanxi University for providing thoughtful services at the conference and wished the conference great success. After the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dong Chun from Nanjing Normal University, Professor Zhang Jin from the Law School of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, and Professor Kai Yuan from Law School of Tsinghua University each gave a keynote speech at the conference. After the keynote speeches, the conference was divided into three sessions in which the participants gave over 50 presentations and carried out lively discussions on various issues around the theme of the conference.
