On June 17, 2017, the third academic seminar on “theory and practice of legal diplomacy”, organized by China Foreign Affairs University, was held in Beijing. At the seminar, Professor Liu Yuandong, Head of the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law and President of the Fourth Civil Division of the Supreme People’s Court, gave a keynote speech on the relationship between administration of justice and international law. In the lecture, Professor Liu pointed out that the relationship between administration of justice and international law has become increasingly close. From the judicial point of view, there is no longer any distinction in practice between public international law, private international law and international economic law. With the rapid raise of China’s international status, the international community is paying more and more attention to Chinese judicial practice. China should solve its practical problems through the comprehensive application of theories in different fields of international law, including public international law, private international law and international economic law. Chinese courts should attach high importance to the role played by administration of justice in enhancing China’s international discourse right. Today, China has already become a big power in the world. The judiciary in China has faced with the difficult task of enhancing China’s international discourse right. How to give fuller play to the unique role of administration of justice in the field international law, expand the scope of application of Chinese case law to the field of international law, and promote the improvement and development of the relevant rules of international law have become a major issue to be dealt with by Chinese international law circle.
