The Sixth China Post-Doctoral Researchers’ Forum: “Retrospect and Prospect: Breaking New Ground in the Construction of the Rule of Law in China” Successfully Held in Beijing

The Sixth China Post-Doctoral Researchers’ Forum was successfully held in Beijing on August 26, 2017. The Forum was held in commemoration of the 25 years of the implementation of the post-doctoral research system in the field of philosophy and social sciences (law science) and took “Retrospect and Prospect: Breaking New Ground in the Construction of the Rule of Law in China” as its theme. It was jointly organized by CASS, National Administrative Committee of Post-Doctoral Researchers, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, CASS Administrative Committee of Post-Doctoral Researchers, CASS Law Institute, Institute of Applied Law Science of the Supreme People’s Court and Tencent Research Institute, and attended by over 160 persons, including leaders of the Supreme People’s Court, China Law Society, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, and CASS, experts and scholars from the law circle, and post-doctoral researchers. The forum was divided into two parts: keynote speeches and exchange of opinions among post-doctoral researchers. The keynote speeches were presided over by Professor Chen Su, Secretary of the Joint Party Committee of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, and Professor Liu Hainian, an honorary CASS member, and given by the winners of the “Outstanding Post-Doctoral Researchers in the Field of Law Science”. They touched upon such issues as the construction of the system of ethnic law in China against the background of “Belt and Road”, construction and improvement of the system of space law with Chinese characteristics, legal revolution in the Internet era, ruling the country by law and the compilation of local chronicles, political and legal analyses of the entry by US Military aircrafts and ships into the scope of 12-nautical-mile Chinese territorial seas in South China Sea, and credit legislation and protection of credit interest. The exchange of opinions among post-doctoral researchers were carried out around the theme “theory and practice on the construction of the rule of law in China”. At this part of the forum, the participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on such topics as micro rule of law: a new perspective and new thinking of the construction of the rule of law, construction of the rule of law in China through villagers’ regulations, government supervision over the oil industry, the administrative case guidance system, the distinction between the principal and the accessory in a joint crime, and the application of the right “to be forgotten” in the field of criminal justice in the Internet era.
