On the afternoon of June 9, 2017, Professor Sun Xianzhong, Executive Vice Chairman of the Civil Law Research Committee of China Law Society and a research fellow at CASS Law institute, visited Fudan University in Shanghai and gave a lecture at the lecture hall of the Law School of the university. In the lecture, which was presided over by Professor Liu Shiguo of the Law School, Professor Sun discussed various issues of philosophy of law and value of law relating to the systematization of the civil law, carried out comparison between Chinese civil law and Roman law, French law and German law, and analyzed the position of civil law in the Chinese legal system. Other two civil law experts from Beijing, Professor Cui Jianyuan from the Law School of Tsinghua University and Professor Yang Lixin from the Law School of Renmin University of China, were also invited to give lecture at the Law School of Fudan University on the same afternoon. The lectures were attended by over 400 students, including undergraduate students, graduate students and Ph.D. candidates, from the Law School of Fudan University.
