The Seminar on Annotation of Law and the Launching of the book Annotations of the General Provisions of the Chinese Civil Law, organized by CASS Law Institute, was successfully held in Beijing on June 7, 2017. The event was attended by over 30 experts and scholars from various research institutions and universities, including Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Peking University, and CASS Law Institute, and covered by such mass media as the People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Beijing Youth Daily, fxcxw.org, Law Press China, caixinglobal.com, and QQ.com. At the opening ceremony, Professor Chen Su, Secretary of Joint Party Committee of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, gave a general introduction to the Annotations of the General Provisions of the Chinese Civil Law. He said that the book is the embodiment of the results of many years of research on civil law carried out by scholars of CASS law Institute, many of them have participated in the whole legislative process of drafting the General Provisions of the Chinese Civil Law. It gives a detailed article-by-article interpretation of the Law and is of high theoretical and practice values. Professor Sun Xianzhong, a senior researcher at the CASS Law Institute, introduced the main characteristics of the book, pointing out that the book is authoritative, systematic and scientific, realistic and readable. Mr. Gao Shan, an editor of Law Press China, pointed out that his publishing house has attached high importance to the editing and publication of the book and will list it as one of the highly recommended books in the civil law book series. Other participants of the event also expressed their opinions on the significance of the publication of the book and carried out discussions on various issues related to the content of the book.
