The International Association of Constitutional Law Roundtable on “Constitutional Adjudication: Traditions and Horizons” Held in Rome

On May 5-6, 2017, the International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) roundtable on “Constitutional Adjudication: Traditions and Horizons” was held in Rome, Italy. The roundtable was hosted by LUISS Guido Carli University, Department of Law and Department of Political Science and attended by about 100 scholars and experts, including members of the Executive Committee of and constitutional scholars around the world. Professor Mo Jihong, Vice Chairman of IACL and Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, attended the Roundtable as a representative of China Law Society. He also attended a meeting of the IACL Executive Committee on May 5, 2017. The Roundtable was divided into three panels on the following topics “Boundaries of Constitutional Adjudication”, “Social Movements and Constitutional Adjudication” and “Constitutionalism, Politics, Morals and Proportionality”. A total of 15 constitutional experts gave presentations on the above three topics. The participants of the roundtable also carried out discussions on the following topics “Adjudicating What? Constitutional Adjudication and Fundamental Rights”; “Adjudicating How? Interpretation, Proportionality and Balancing”, and “Adjudicating Where? Constitutional Adjudication within the Composite European Constitution”.
