Professor Tian He Attends the Third “Internet Plus Smart Court” Forum

On July 14, 2017, the Third “Internet Plus Smart Court” Forum was held in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. The forum was jointly sponsored by Internet Judicial Research Center of China Institute of Applied Jurisprudence of the Supreme People’s Court and Sina.com and organized by the Intermediate People’s Court of Chengdu City with the Support of the Higher People’s Court of Sichuan Province. Attended by over 100 representatives from 10 higher people’s courts and 57 intermediate and grassroots people’s courts throughout the country, the seminar was focused on the application of the Internet in courts, construction of smart courts, and judicial application of artificial intelligence against the background of judicial reform in China. At the seminar, Mr. Jiang Huiling, Director of China Institute of Applied Jurisprudence, Mr. Yang Xiaochun, Deputy Head of the Office of Judicial Reform of the Supreme People’s Court, Professor Tian He, Head of Department of Survey of National Situation of the Rule of Law of CASS Law Institute, Mr. Guo Yan, President of Intermediate People’s court of Chengdu City, Mr. Wang Wei, Chief Information Officer of Sina.com, Mr. Zhang Kening, Product Director of Sogou, Mr. Zhang Changhao, General Manager of Sina Court Channel each gave keynote speeches. In the speeches, they discussed such issues as “the eight main ideas of speeding up the construction of smart courts”, “the objective, reality and future of the reform of the pluralistic dispute resolution mechanism”, “the assessment of the construction of smart courts in China”, and “the network effect of smart courts”. After the speech, the participants of the seminar carried out in-depth exchange of ideas on the thinking and actual results of construction of smart courts against the background of Internet, including the construction of on-line litigation and mediation platforms, open trial and the application of speech recognition technology, and judicial big data and smart court.
