Professor Zhou Hanhua Gives Lecture on “Challenges to Cyberspace Safety and the Cyberspace Safety Law” at State General Administration of Sports

On March 30, 2017, the State General Administration of Sports organized the first lecture on cyberspace safety in 2017. The purpose of the lecture was to implement the requirements of Office of the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs of the CPC Central Committee and other Party and government organs relating to cyberspace safety, raise the cyberspace safety consciousness of cadres and staff members of the Administration, and enhance their ability and skill of ensuring cyberspace safety. The lecture was given by Professor Zhou Hanhua, a research follow of CASS Law Institute, and attended by over cadres 150 staff members of various organs under the Administration. In the lecture, Professor Zhou pointed out that “the Internet is a historical opportunity for China”, clearly showed the profound social transformation brought about by Internet technologies, and used a large number of vivid examples to demonstrate that challenges to cyberspace safety are everywhere in today’s society. On the above basis, he explained the adoption of the Cyberspace Safety Law and its significance. Finally, in light of the practical work of the Administration, he gave a detailed introduction to specific content of the Cyberspace Safety Law, especially the responsibilities of network operators, the system of protection of key information, and the protection of personal data.
