The election of the fifth chief executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was held in Hong Kong at 9-11 am on March 26, 2017. The election was broadcasted live by China Global Television Network (CGTN). During the broadcast, Professor Liao Fan, a research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law, was interviewed by the CGTN in which he explained and commented on such issues as the system of election of the chief executive of Hong Kong, the Central Government’s four criteria on the chief executive of Hong Kong, the importance and practical significance of “One Country, Two Systems”, and the prospect of economic development in Hong Kong. Later, Professor Liao was interviewed by the CCTV program “Global Watch”, in which he commented on the newly elected Fifth Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Ms. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.
