Professors Liu Nanlai and Liu Huawen Attend the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Advisory Committee on International Law of the Chinese Foreign Ministry

On March 1, 2017, the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Advisory Committee on International Law of the Chinese Foreign Ministry was held in Beijing. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Xu Hong, General-Director of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Foreign Ministry. Two scholars from CASS Institute of International Law—Professor Liu Nanlai, an honorary CASS member and an arbitrator of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and Professor Liu Huawen, Assistant Director of CASS Institute of International Law—attended the meeting and carried out in-depth discussion with other participants around the topics of global governance and the international law safeguard for the “One Belt and One Road” strategy. The Advisory Committee on International Law, established by the Chinese Foreign Ministry in January 2015, was the first international law advisory body established under a state organ in China. The Committee consists of sixteen members, including four advisors. Currently Professor Liu Nanlai is an advisor to the Committee and Professor Liu Huawen is a member of the Committee.
