On February 18, 2017, the Seminar on the Compilation of the Part on Property Law in the Chinese Civil Code, organized by the Civil Law Department of CASS Law Institute, was successfully held in the conference room of the CASS Law Institute. The seminar was presided over by Professor Zhu Guangxing, Deputy Head of the Civil Law Department of CASS Law Institute, and attended by over fifty experts and scholars from universities and research institutions throughout the country, including CASS, Tsinghua University, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law, Jilin University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. At the seminar, Professor Sun Xianzhong first gave a keynote speech on the background and main content of the (Exposure Draft) of the Bill on the Revision of the Chinese Property Law. After the Professor Sun’s speech, the participants carried out in-depth discussions on various issues around the speech, including the concept and systematization of property right, registration of real estate, types of ownership, the system of condominium ownership of buildings, the system of bona fide acquisition, the system of return of lost-properties, the real right for usufruct system, the system of real rights granted by way of security and the system of possession. They unanimously agreed that the property law is the most important part of the Chinese Civil Code and put forward many constructive proposals on the revision of the Law.
