On November 15, 2018, a ceremony was held for the appointment of Professor Talia Khabliyava, a member of Russian Academy of Sciences and the director of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of Russian Federation, as an honorary research fellow of CASS Law Institute.
The ceremony was presided over by Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, and attended by Professor Chen Su, Secretary of Joint Party Committee of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, Professor Chen Guoping, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, Professor XieZengyi, Head of the Department of Research Coordination and International Cooperation of CASS Law Institute, an official from the Russian Embassy in China, and about 20 representatives of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law.
In his speech, Professor Chen Guoping pointed out that Professor Khabliyava is a famous jurist in Russian who is well known all over the world for her researches in the field of constitutional law and jurisprudence and also very influential in China. It is a great honor of CASS Law Institute to appoint her as an honorary researcher. He hoped that the appointment would become a new starting point of the cooperation between CASS Law Institute and the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law of the Russian Federation. After the speech, he issued Professor Khabliyava a certificate of the appointment.
Professor Khabliyava recalled her unforgettable experience of visiting CASS Law Institute in 2011 and thanked the Institute for this special honor, which she cherished very much. She pointed out that the rule of law is an important achievement of human civilization and that China and Russia have a lot to learn from each other in the construction of the rule of law.In the future, she would make continued efforts in promoting the more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation between the two institutes.
In his speech, Professor Mo spoke highly of the academic achievements made byProfessor Khabliyava, praised her for the great contribution she has made to the legal exchange between Russia and China, andput forward some suggestions on the future cooperation between the two institutes.
Professor Xie Kai gave a brief introduction to the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of Russian Federation and the academic achievements made by Professor Khabliyava; Professor XieZengyi introduced the plan for the strengthening the exchange and cooperation between CASS Law Institute and the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of Russian Federation; and finally Professor ZhaiGuoqiang spoke as a representative of CASS Law Institute and put forward some suggestions on strengthening the academic exchange and cooperation between China and Russia.
