On April 12, 2018, the president of CASS, Professor Xie Fuzhan, carried out on-site investigation at CASS Law Institute, CASS Institute of International Law and other five CASS institutes and held a colloquium with the leaders of the seven institutes. In the colloquium, which was presided over by Professor Li Peilin, Vice Chairman of CASS, Professor Xie Fuzhan stressed that researchers of social sciences and legal science must adhere to the correct political orientation and conscientiously carry out the work of study and interpretation of Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era. He fully confirmed the achievements made by researches of the seven institutes in the process of reform and opening up and stressed that research in the fields of social sciences and legal science has the characteristic of high political and social sensitivity. Researchers in these fields must take Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era as their guidance, continuously improve their political stance, and always adhere to the research orientation of being people-centered, so as to contribute to the decision-making of the Party and the government and to the economic and social development through their high quality academic research work. He pointed out that, as the socialism with Chinese characteristics enters into a new era, many new changes and new phenomena have emerged in the process of social development in China. These new changes and new phenomena have become the “academic bonanza” for social and legal research. Researchers in these fields must take the Marxism as their guidance, and do a good job of studying and interpreting Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era, which is the latest achievement of sinicization of Marxism.

Before the colloquium, Professor Xie Fuzhan made an inspection tour of the Editorial Office of the Chinese Journal of Law, the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law, and CASS Law Library.
