On the morning of September 18, 2017, Professor Franz Saecker, Director of Berlin Institute of Energy and Regulatory Law, gave a lecture at the CASS Institute of International Law. The lecture, entitled “International Investment Dispute Settlement– an European Approach”, was presided over by Professor Liu Jingdong, Head of the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law. Dr. Mao Xiaofei, an assistant researcher of the Institute, served as the interpreter for the lecture. In the lecture, Professor Saecker introduced the German experiences of participating in the ISDS (investor-state dispute settlement) mechanism and the European plan and idea of the reform of ISDS mechanism. After the lecture, Professor Liu Jingdong made comments on the lecture and exchanged views with Professor Saecker on various issues discussed in the lecture, including the prospect of European Investment Court and the jurisdiction of arbitral court.
