Professor Xiong Qiuhong engaged as a member of the Academic Committee of the Research Centre for Criminal Justice of Renmin University of China

On June 8, 2017, a ceremony for the establishment of the first Academic Committee of the Research Centre for Criminal Justice of Renmin University of China and the seminar on the future development of the Center were held in Beijing. At the ceremony, a total of thirteen prominent criminal law experts in China, including Professor Xiong Qiuhong, Head of the Criminal Procedure Law Department of CASS Law Institute, were engaged as members of the first Academic Committee of the Center. At the ceremony, Professor Shi Yan’an, Director of the Center, read the decisions on the engagement of the members of the Academic Committee and issued a letter of engagement to each member of the Committee. At the seminar, Professor Shi introduced to members of the Academic Committee the plan for the future development of the Center: with respect to scientific research, the center will continue to maintain its leading position in the field of criminal law science in China, and expand its international influence; with respect to the training of legal talents, it will continue to innovate the legal talent training methods and establish two sets of training plans for practical talents and research talents in the field of criminal law; with respect to the construction of think tank, it will continue to integrate the research forces to provide the government with countermeasure proposals on criminal legislation and the reform and development of criminal organs, and policy proposals on the overall construction of the criminal law system in the country. After the introduction, members of the Academic Committee each put forward his or her opinions and suggestions on the future development of the Center.
