Lectures on “Implementing the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of CPC Central Committee and Upholding the Authority of Party Constitution and National Constitution” Held in Beijing

On the afternoon of December 4, 2016, a lecture series was jointly organized by the Judicial Bureau of Beijing Municipality, Beijing Law Society, CASS Law Institute, and CASS Institute of International Law in commemoration of the third National Constitutional Day. The lectures, with “Implementing the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of CPC Central Committee and Upholding the Authority of Party Constitution and National Constitution” as their main theme, were given by six prominent scholars of constitutional law in China, including Professor Zhang Jun, Vice Chairman of Beijing Law Society, Professor Han Dayuan, Chairman of China Society of Constitutional Law, Professor Hu Jianmiao, Director of Department of Law of Chinese Academy of Governance, Professor Li Lin, Director of CASS Law Institute, Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, and Professor Li Zhong, Head of Department of Strategic Research on the Rule of Law of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law. In the lectures, they gave comprehensive explanations of such important issues as the establishment of National Constitutional Law, the constitutional oath system, the procedures and mechanism of constitutional interpretation, the relationship between strengthening Party discipline and ruling the country by law, and upholding the authorities of the Party Constitution and national Constitution. The lectures were attended by over 150 persons from all walks of life in Beijing and covered by such news media as the CCTV, Beijing TV, People’s Daily, Guangming Daily, Legal Daily, Procuratorate Daily, and People’s Court Daily.
