On November 24, 2016, Professor Li Lin, Director of CASS Law Institute, was invited by the People’s Court of Zhushan District, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, to give a lecture on Key and Difficult Issues in Comprehensively Advancing the Rule of Law in China. The lecture was presided over by Mr. Gao Xiang, the Secretary of the Political and Law Commission of the Party Committee of the District, and attended by the staff of the Court as well as by some cadres from the Political and Law Commission of the Party Committee and the Procuratorate of the district. In the lecture, Professor Li Lin elaborated on the essentials of the strategy of comprehensively advancing the rule of law from the perspectives of strategic status, strategic significance, nature and characteristics, key tasks, and top-level design, analyzed from the constitutional perspective and in light of local judicial work and the objectives of judicial reform the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese courts and procuratorates in the new situation, and explained the mechanisms for the safeguarding of the rule of law. Professor Li also discussed the importance of adhering to the absolute leadership of the CPC and of paying attention to details in light of the requirements of Party disciplines and concrete judicial work, thus providing new approaches to the judicial reform to be unfolded in China soon. After the lecture, Professor Li, accompanied by the president and vice president of the Court, visited the Litigation Service Center and the Cultural Corridor of the Court and put forward some suggestions on the future cooperation between the Court and the CASS Law Institute.
