A Delegation of CASS Law Institute Visits Poland and Hungary

On October 3-9, 2016, a six-member delegation of CASS Law Institute, lead by Director Li Lin, attended an international seminar in Poland and visited legal research institutions in Poland and Hungary. Other members of the delegation included Professor Li Mingde, Professor Xu Hui, Professor Xie Zengyi, Associate Professor Lu Chao and Assistant Professor Wu Jun. On October 4, 2016, the Second Sino-Polish Seminar on Comparative Law opened at the Law School of Warsaw University. The seminar was divided into two stages and attended by members of the delegation and polish scholars in relevant fields. The first stage of the seminar was held at the Law School of Warsaw University and divided into three sessions, at which the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on various issues around the topics of protection of intellectual property, judicial reform, and labor contract law. After the seminar, members of the delegation were given a tour of Warsaw University. On October 5, 2017, the second stage of the seminar was held at Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Before the seminar, Professor Li Lin and Professor Jerzy Pisuliński, Dean of the Law School of Jagiellonian University, signed a formal agreement on cooperation between the two institutions. At the seminar, the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on such issues as the construction of the rule of law in China, legal intuition, construction of a law-based government in China, the trend towards de-codification in legal practice, the protection of consumer rights in Chinese competition law system, and the Polish administrative law in transition. On October 7, the delegation visited Professor Tomasz Giaro, Dean of the Law School of Warsaw University, and carried out discussion and reached broad consensus with him on the future cooperation between the Law School and CASS Law Institute. Professor Li Lin also signed a tripartite agreement on the cooperation between CASS Law Institute, Law School of Warsaw University and the Law School of Jagiellonian University. On the same day, the delegation also visited the Supreme Court of Poland and held a meeting with Professor Wasek-wiaderek and Professor Mateusz Pilich of the Research Department of the Court. On October 8, 2016, the delegation arrived in Budapest, Hungary. On October 9-10, the delegation visited a number of Hungarian academic institutions, including the Law Institute of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, National University of Public Service, and Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary (KRE), met with scholars and experts in the relevant fields, and exchanged opinions with them on issues of common interest and on the future cooperation between CASS Law Institute and these Hungarian institutions.
