The Eleventh Forum of Chinese Jurists was held in Beijing on August 24, 2016. The forum was organized by China Law Society and takes “Codification of Civil Law: Theory, Institution and Practice” as its theme. At the forum, the participants give speeches on such topics as “the basic issues in the codification of civil law”, “codification of the civil law and related laws”, “inheritance and borrowing in the codification of civil law”, “legislative style and techniques in the codification of civil law”, “important issues relating to the general principles of civil law”, and “important systems in the specific parts of the Civil Code”, in which they put forward many insightful suggestions and proposals on the codification of the civil law in China. Among the speakers at the Forum were five research fellows from CASS Law Institute: professors Chen Su, Sun Xianzhong, Zhou Hanhua, Zhang Sheng and Liu Zuoxiang. They each gave a keynote speech on “Effective Embodiment of Chinese Characteristics in the Codification the Civil Law”, “Reflections on the General Arrangement of the Civil Code system”, “Codification of Civil Law against the Background of Internet”, “Codification of Civil Law in the Period of Republic of China and Its Implications for the Current Codification of Civil Law in China”, and “Legal Sources of Codification of Civil Law”, respectively.
