Professor Liu Renwen Attends the Fourteenth China-South Korean Seminar on Criminal Law

The Fourteenth China-South Korean Seminar on Criminal Law, jointly sponsored by Korean Society of Comparative Criminal Law, Chinese Society of Criminal Law, and Korean Institute of Criminal Justice Policy and organized the School of Law and Policy of Cheju National University and Korean National Police Agency, was held on August 22-24, 2016. The seminar, which took “comparative research on criminal responsibilities and amount of crime” as its theme, was attended by over 70 scholars and experts from various universities and research institutions in South Korea and China. At the seminar, the participants gave keynote speeches and carried out discussions on various issues relating to the theme of the seminar, such as theoretical and practical issues relating to commutation of sentence, appropriateness of reduction or exemption of criminal punishment for recipients of judicial assistance, mixed probation system, reform of the system of short-term penalty of deprivation of freedom in China, punishment of imaginative joinder of offenses, criminal responsibility of units for the commitment of individual crimes, criminal responsibilities of minors and mental patents, and criminal law assessment of participation in suicide. Professor Liu Renwen, Head of the Criminal Law Department of CASS Law Institute, attended the seminar as the deputy head of the Chinese delegation and gave a keynote speech at the seminar.
