Academic Seminar “Criminal Legislation on Cyber Crimes and Frontline Issues of Criminal Justice” Held in Beijing

On June 18-19, 2016, the Seminar “Criminal Legislation on Cyber Crimes and Frontline Issues of Criminal Justice”, organized by the Criminal Law Department of CASS Law Institute, was successfully held in Beijing. The seminar was attended by about 100 experts from various colleges and universities, research institutions, judicial organs, government agencies, and web-based companies throughout the country, including CASS, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University, Jilin University, Zhejiang University, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, China Law Society, Alibaba, and Tencent. Apart from the opening and closing ceremony, the seminar consisted of six units, in which the participants carried out in-depth and heated discussions and reached broad consensus on such topics as the current situation of cyber crimes and of researches on cyber crimes, the crime of cyber terrorism, Internet financial crimes, the criminal responsibility of network service providers, new types of cyber crimes, and cyber crimes-related procedural issues and other perspectives. At the end of the seminar, all participants agreed that this was a high-quality academic seminar and would play an important role in promoting the legislation and research in the field of cybercrime. The seminar was covered by People’s Court Daily and many news media.
